Riverhead Brewery has rebranded on its 20th year since Ossett reopened the brew pub, bringing back naming conventions that tie it to the local area’s reservoirs and clip designs from 2005 and before.
Perched on the banks of the River Colne in the picturesque village of Marsden, The Riverhead Brewery has long been rooted in both its local landscape and brewing heritage. Drawing inspiration from the surrounding reservoirs and waterways, the brewery has unveiled its new ‘Heritage Collection’ - a rebrand that celebrates its past while introducing a refreshed identity. The collection features firmly established favourites such as Butterley Bitter alongside brand new additions, all brewed in classic English styles. Each beer name and ABV is thoughtfully connected to local reservoirs and their elevations, with all ingredients proudly sourced from England.
The rebrand comes at a time when many breweries are rediscovering the value of their heritage, with a renewed appreciation for traditional, comforting cask ales alongside more experimental craft beer offerings. The Riverhead Brewery saw an opportunity to embrace this movement while staying true to its roots. As Jamie Lawson, Ossett Brewery owner, explains: “We wanted to really celebrate Riverhead’s history as we mark 20 years since reopening the site. The Heritage Collection allows us to honour where we’ve come from while continuing to serve the kind of beers our customers know and love.”
The new range introduces 11 beers in total, each brewed on-site at Riverhead, where brewing has taken place since 1995. Part of the Ossett Brewery estate since 2006, the brewery continues to produce small-batch cask ales, with each brew yielding just 14 firkins. This means the vast majority of the beer is enjoyed fresh at The Riverhead Brewery Tap itself, reinforcing its reputation as a true destination for cask ale enthusiasts.
The Riverhead Brewery Tap in Marsden, Huddersfield, has been a cornerstone of the local beer scene since 1995. Originally opened as an independent microbrewery, it quickly established itself as a haven for cask ale lovers, with its on-site brewery producing a wide range of traditional and contemporary ales.
The award-winning brewpub continues to champion quality and craftsmanship. Guests can enjoy nine real ale hand pumps featuring brews from both Riverhead and Ossett, alongside a rotating selection of local guest ales. The offering is complemented by a range of craft beers from SALT and Ossett Brewery’s RAT Range, as well as popular Asian street food from BaoBros23 - all within a unique setting overlooking the river.
As it approaches three decades of brewing, The Riverhead Brewery Tap remains committed to quality, heritage, and innovation - raising a glass to both its past and its future.
